My Journey

From Samosas to Skyscrapers

Welcome! I’m Dr. Juhee Jhalani, licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to mental health
awareness, advocacy, and community service. My journey began in Jaipur, India, where I grew
up in a family of physicians. Though I initially aimed to follow in my family’s footsteps and join
medicine, I was drawn to the urgent need for mental health services, especially for the
underserved populations.

On completing my Master’s degree, I moved to New York City through an arranged marriage,
joining a family of entrepreneurs who uphold strong Indian values. Balancing graduate school
with the roles of a young, married, professional Indian-American woman, I navigated the
complexities of acculturation and identity.

This personal experience fueled my commitment to help others find their ‘true’ selves and their
calling. In my practice, I offer individual, couple’s, and family psychotherapy in both English
and Hindi, using a client-centered, collaborative approach that integrates Mindfulness,
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I am trained in palliative care, psycho-oncology, and therapy for individuals with special needs.
Currently, I am a faculty member at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and a staff
psychologist at Bellevue Hospital Center, New York, where I provide clinical care, supervise
doctoral interns, and manage administrative duties.

Thank you for visiting my webpage. Let’s connect!
